Baba Marta Burzala 3
Baba Marta continues to hurry around for the third year running!
The Refugee Project is celebrating the third-year anniversary of this unique event, the Baba Marta Run, by organising the charity race around a 2 kilometre track for all ages at the Borisova Gardens on Sunday 26th February at 10:00 am.
As in previous years, the event will be happy, colourful, and most importantly – will bring the community together. It will be wonderful to gather everyone together to take part on this Sunday morning and to exchange martenitsas. Besides raising pulse rates, the purpose of the initiative is to raise awareness within the community about asylum seekers and refugees in Bulgaria as well as the project’s voluntary activities.
Of course we would also like to raise funds, in order to continue providing classes in Bulgarian, English, Music, Art and Maths at the centres for asylum seekers in Sofia. All of the funds raised during the event will be used to buy materials and to organise activities for the children and adults who we are working with.
Keep the 26th February in your calendars and come to support us! As well as the race itself, we are also putting on dance and art workshops as well as an opportunity to learn how to make martenitsas. With your ticket comes a special t-shirt and other accessories for the run, and the first three to cross the line in each category, women, men and children, will be awarded with a unique, hand-made martenitsa-styled medal.
You can buy your ticket for the event from:
- “St. Anna” Centre on 1 Struma Str., Sofia;
- at Modeteka shop on 62 Parchevich Str (on the corner with angel Kanchev Str.)
- at the summer stage in Borisova Garden on the day of the event.
